Army Engineers fought and lived through the attack on Pearl Harbor

Seven December 1941 was the opening scene of World War II, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers was there. At 7:55 a.m., two waves of Japanese warplanes from a naval task force about 250 miles north of Hawaii appeared over Oahu. Some headed for American warships at Pearl Harbor and the planes on the ground at nearby Hickam Field; others hit Schofield Barracks, Wheeler Field, and Bellows Field.

Paving the road to stable economic growth at Shur Andam Industrial Park

The entrepreneurs at the Shur Andam Industrial Park in Kandahar need a paved road, so civil engineers from the 565th Engineer Detachment Forward Engineer Support Team - Advance conducted a road survey Nov. 7, 2012, to develop designs and specifications, a statement of work and cost estimate to facilitate future construction of a road at Shur Andam.

U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Honolulu District Deploys a Team to Support Hurricane Sandy Relief Efforts

Fifteen U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Honolulu District personnel deployed Dec. 3 to support recovery efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy in the Northeast. The Power Planning and Response Team (Power PRT) from the District includes specialists for contracting, liaisons, mission management, data management, logistics and quality assurance.

Corps, Garrison Participate in Hawaiian Site Blessing for First Phase of new CAB Complex

U.S. Army Garrison-Hawaii, Army Corps of Engineers and contractor David Boland LLC personnel participated in a Hawaiian site blessing Nov. 28, 2012 on the south side of the Wheeler airstrip, officially starting the construction for the first phase of the new 25th Infantry Division (25th ID) Combat Aviation Brigade Complex (CAB).

Corps Joins ABMC, Punchbowl to Dedicate Vietnam Pavilions at the Honolulu Memorial on Veterans Day 2012

The American Battle Monuments Commission (ABMC), along with the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific (Punchbowl) and the Honolulu District dedicated two new pavilions at the Honolulu Memorial on Sunday, November 11, 2012.

Corps of Engineers, Community Clean-up Fort DeRussy on National Public Lands Day

More than 60 volunteers scoured Fort DeRussy in Waikiki, picking up trash and installing storm drain markers as part of National Public Lands Day, Sept. 29. The Corps of Engineers’ Regional Visitor Center (RVC) coordinated the event which was supported by Corps employees, Iolani School’s Brownie Troop 276 and Punahou Junior ROTC cadets.
