    Secretary of Army selects Far East District civilian as EEO Professional of the Year

    Stephen Brown, Far East District (FED) Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Manager was selected as the 2022 Secretary of the Army EEO Professional of the Year for his significant contributions to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) EEO and Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility program and initiatives within the region. The award is presented to a civilian equal opportunity official who manages, directs, oversees, and implements a model EEO program with distinction.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Far East District (FED) hosted an Industry Day to showcase emerging opportunities, Korea-wide, to work with the District at the Riverbend Golf Course Ballroom located on U.S. Army Garrison Humphreys, Oct. 6.

    FED Intern Spotlight: Lauren Wougk

    Lauren Wougk began her career with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) as a student employee with the Transatlantic Middle East District (TAM) in the summer of 2019. Wougk was later hired as a Department of Army (DA) intern in October 2021, when she acquired her master’s degree in civil engineering at Rutgers University.
  • Far East District’s experts regulate asbestos to protect environment and USFK personnel

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Far East District (FED) Environmental Section has two accredited environmental laboratories: a chemistry laboratory and an asbestos laboratory. The chemistry laboratory was validated by the USACE Hazardous, Toxic, and Radioactive Waste Mandatory Center of Expertise in September 2004. The asbestos laboratory obtained the Industrial Hygiene Laboratory Accreditation from the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA) on July 1, 2005, and has been audited every two years, maintaining accreditation.
