Honolulu Harbor Maintenance Dredging July 2024
Sediment is being removed from Honolulu Harbor by a clamshell dredge bucket during the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers maintenance dredging operations in July 2024. A turbidity curtain contains any sediment that may be suspended in the water, as shown by the darker shade of the water inside the curtain as compared to outside the curtain. Maintenance dredging is a critical process that directly strengthens the Navigation mission in the Pacific by ensuring the safe passage of shipping, commercial, and military vessels across Hawaii and U.S. Pacific territories.
