Mr. Pinkham with the Nome Harbor project management team
Jaime Pinkham (second from right), principal deputy assistant secretary of the Army for civil works, visited the Port of Nome on Feb. 23, while accompanied by members of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers – Alaska District and City of Nome. The district intends to expand the port to alleviate existing vessel restrictions imposed by insufficient channel depths and limited harbor space. The port serves the greater Seward Peninsula region, so ensuring a robust and efficient transportation hub is critical to the long-term viability of surrounding communities. The modification project received $250 million for construction under the new Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. (Photo by Kendall Campbell, USACE Alaska District)
