Lower Mekong Initiative (LMI) Road Management Workshop
VIENTIANE, Laos - Engineers from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' Pacific Ocean Division and Omaha District’s Road Transportation Center of Expertise discussed road management best practices and techniques with other attendees at the Lower Mekong Initiative (LMI) Road Management Workshop May 6-10 in Vientiane, Laos. The workshop, which was hosted by Singapore and Loas in partnership with the United States, was formally opened by Lao Deputy Minister of Public Works and Transport Dr. Bouonchanh Sinthavong, U.S. Ambassador Karen B. Stewart, and Singaporean Ambassador Kang Siew Kheng. During the event subject matter experts from LMI partner nations shared, enhanced and expanded their technical capacity and understanding of pavement techniques that will promote road safety, environmental sustainability, and pavement durability.
