HELPING OTHERS: Opening of First Coastal Crisis Management Center in Bangladesh
The U.S. Government, represented by Ambassador Mozena (right), and the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, represented by the Minister of Home Affairs, Dr. Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir, inaugurated the first of 30 Coastal Crisis Management Centers in Bangladesh. http://www.flickr.com/photos/usembassydhaka/8555957655/in/set-72157632993985466/ From planning, budgeting to construction, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers – Pacific Ocean Division is BUILDING STRONG in support of the U.S. Pacific Command’s Humanitarian Assistance Program. This is the first of several Coastal Crisis Management Centers to be completed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers- Pacific Ocean Division, working through its Alaska District. In addition to the Multi-Purpose Cyclone Shelters built in partnership with Bangladesh by the U.S. Government, the Crisis Management Centers will better enable the Government o f Bangladesh to respond to natural disasters, and ensure the protection of Bangladesh’s fragile coastal environment.
