Pacific Ocean Division Commander Brig. Gen. (promotable) Richard L. Stevens presents the Bronze Order of the de Fleury Medal citation to The Honorable Daniel K. Akaka May 24 at Fort Shafter, Hawaii. Senator Akaka, who recently retired after 37 years of federal service, was the guest speaker at the Division’s Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month observance. Following a relaxed “talk story” session with employees, the veteran congressman was honored when the Division commander presented him with the Bronze Order of the de Fleury Medal for his inspirational leadership to the United States Army Corps of Engineers.
